Keith
Douglass, Executive Director
Capt.
Keith Douglass, K.M, AMS, a former County Commissioner and County
Mayor prior to his arrival at Crane Point in March 2006 served
for seven years as the Director of Program Devlopment at the Rural
Health Network of Monroe County, coordinating fundraising, public
and governmental relations activities as well as administering
the Florida KidCare Program for uninsured children.
Mr.
Douglass has been a resident of the Florda Keys since 1990 and
along with his wife, Diane, a registered nurse, has two daughters
and resides on Lower Matecumbe Key. Mr. Douglass is a former
president and current board member of the Rotary Club of Marathon
as well as past Assistant Governor. He is the immediate past
board President of both the Healthy Start Coalition and Florida
Keys Children's Shelter and is a member of the Islamorada Village
Land Acquisition Committee. Mr. Douglass is a Knight of Malta,
a Catholic religious order, that seves the needs of the poor
and sick. Other civic involvement includes serving as a volunteer
with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, The Florida
Keys Wasterwater Foundation and Green Turtle Hammock Foundation.
Mr.
Douglass is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed commercial captain, an
accredited Marine Survey, a U.S. Navy veteran and an Eagle Scout.
Elizabeth
Moore,
Education Director
Elizabeth
Moore earned a Bachelor's degree in Science Education from the
University of Central Florida and worked as a certified teacher
in Florida for 28 years. Ms. Moore is a former manager of Mad
Science, an educational Children's Entertainment Program and
is also the owner/operator of Sea Science. Ms. Moore has been
honored to receive the Disney Innovative Teacher Award as well
as a Governor's Nominee for Environmental Teacher award. She
has worked extenisvely with school students both in the classroom
and in the field and has brought many new programs to Crane
Point including: Science Saturdays, the Land & Sea Youth
Camp and the Bahamian Heritage Festival.
Laura Fowler,
Outreach Director
Laura
is a Florida native, born and raised in Deltona, FL. She graduated
magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations
and a minor in Nonprofit Management from the University of Florida
in May 2006. Go Gators! Ms. Fowler has also earned certification
from American Humanics, an organization which works to educate,
prepare and certify professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit
organizations. In July 2006, Ms. Fowler moved south to the Florida
Keys to begin working at Crane Point. She has since become highly
involved in the Marathon chapter of the Jaycees as the Membership/Marketing
Vice President and is currently serving in the AmeriCorps ProCorps
program.
